Please bring the completed “New Patient Forms “which includes a list of all medications. Also, please provide dental insurance information if you have coverage.
You can expect a very thorough exam. This will include x-rays, oral cancer screening and possible oral photographs. At that time you can also discuss any personal desires for aesthetics and overall health.
Failure to see a dentist regularly increases your risks for gum disease, toothaches, decay and possible tooth loss. There are also links between gum disease and other serious diseases including diabetes and heart disease.
Flossing once daily is recommended to prevent gingivitis and tooth decay. In my practice it is clear that people who floss daily have healthier gums and keep their teeth longer.
Many factors can cause discomfort. This includes decay, nerve damage, recession and periodontal disease. This can be determined with a proper exam.
Start oral hygiene early. Set a good example. Use a two minute hour glass sand timer. Offer incentives to make it fun. And don’t forget to praise them afterwards!
Good prevention is the key. Brush your teeth morning and night and floss daily. Limit your intake of high sugar drinks such as soda, juices and energy drinks and avoid continuous snacking. And of course, maintain regular dental visits.
If you can’t put the tooth back in position, put it in milk and see your dentist immediately.
Brush with desensitizing toothpaste. Avoid acidic foods. Have a dental exam to check for recession.
To maintain stability and comfort it is important to have a dental exam on an annual basis. It is also important to check the health of the tissue under the denture.
X-rays are used with low levels of radiation to capture images of the interior of your teeth and bone, to help identify cavities, any abnormalities or possible abscess and impacted teeth.
With todays advanced technology, root canal treatment is quick, safe, typically pain free and an excellent way to help save a natural tooth.

Oral Care for Kids
Around their first birthday, or within six months after their first tooth emerges, schedule a visit to make sure the teeth of your child are developing properly. According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, over 50 percent of children will have some kind of tooth decay before they turn five, so it is important for your child to attend early dental visits. We can address any oral hygiene questions you have and let you know when it is time to start using a toothbrush.
Let them see you brushing and flossing, and help them brush and floss their teeth. By following the 2-2-2 Rule (seeing the dentist twice a year and brushing and flossing twice a day for two minutes), you will develop healthy oral hygiene habits.
